Now We Are Six by A.A Milne

My Daddy bought me this book when I was six. It was £11.99.

It is a book about poems. There are 58 pages and it's a brilliant book for children who are old and young, because some of the words are hard and some of the words are easy. The young children can practise the hard words, like frowned and brushed beneath and tinker tailor. And thief. And jeweller.

I like the pictures and some of the long poems. My favourite is King John's Christmas on page 2 and it's on five pages, it's nearly the longest poem in the book.

When I was younger I read it with my Daddy but now I can read it by myself because I've practised. When I read the poems, sometimes I can't read the words so I practise. Sometimes when I look at the book I find new poems that I've never read before. Lots of ot he poems make me happy, some of them make me curious. Sometimes it's a sad beginning but then it's a happy ending.

It's got lovely pictures, they are funny and interesting to look at.

  3. This is a very good book to start with. It is one of my favourite books too, and I still have my copy of it from when I was a little boy, a long time ago. I remember the book was a present from my Aunty Barbara. I very much like the poem King John's Christmas too. I look forward to hearing more about books from you.

  7. This is an excellent book to have, even if you are older than six.

I remember the copy my sister and I had when we were little. She was six, and clever as clever, and I was four ... I couldn't read yet, but I knew some of the poems and loved the pictures.

I hope somebody gives you Winnie the Pooh soon.

  8. Hello Raffaella, I liked your poem book review. I love books to read hard words and easy ones too. My favourite author is Roald Dahl because his stories are fantastic. The Twits is the best, have you read it? It's very funny and Mr and Mrs Twit always fight. Stefano xxx

  9. Hello Stefano! How are you? I haven't read it but mummy has a collection of Roald Dahl books in her study. I will ask her for them to see if it is in there. Bingo x

  10. I'd forgotten all about this book until I read your brilliant review. I will read it with Stefano and Riccardo when we get back to England. My favourite poem from Now We Are Six is the one about the 2 Johns and having the wrong trousers on :-)
Well done Raffaella! I'll look forward to reading your blog updates in the future...
Mandi (Stefano and Riccardo's mummy). x
P.S. I love the photo of you in disguise. You've grown lots since we saw you.
